Driving force for shape memory effect of polymers

چکیده

In this study, we aim to evaluate the shape memory effect of a Poly (Caprolactone) (PCL) (40%) and Styrene-Butadiene-Styrene (SBS) (60%) blend. Shape cycle tests are performed at different temperatures detect best recovery rate. Under appropriate temperature, blend recovers substantially its original shape. To study rate evolution, multi realized with controlled temperature. The results indicate that growths when number increases. stored energy acts as driving force bring polymer permanent after each loading cycle. Then, an method is proposed measure stress-strain evolution during recovery. With variable no standard test can follow evolution. This needed validate behavior model.

Temperature memory effect in amorphous shape memory polymers.

Temperature memory effect (TME) refers to the ability of shape memory polymers (SMPs) to memorize the temperature at which pre-deformation was conducted. In the past few years, this TME was experimentally demonstrated by comparing the applied programming temperature (Td) with a characteristic recovery temperature (Tc), which corresponds to either the maximum recovery stress or free recovery spe...

Shape-memory polymers.

Material scientists predict a prominent role in the future for self-repairing and intelligent materials. Throughout the last few years, this concept has found growing interest as a result of the rise of a new class of polymers. These so-called shape-memory polymers by far surpass well-known metallic shape-memory alloys in their shape-memory properties. As a consequence of the relatively easy ma...

Design strategies for shape memory polymers

Shape memory polymers (SMPs) are polymeric materials capable of recovering from a ‘fixed’ temporary shape to a ‘memorized’ permanent shape upon exposure to an external stimulus. Two structural elements are required for a polymer to exhibit useful shape memory: a network structure that defines the permanent shape (the ‘memory’), and a switching segment that induces a significant change in the mo...

Shape memory polymers for active cell culture.

Shape memory polymers (SMPs) are a class of "smart" materials that have the ability to change from a fixed, temporary shape to a pre-determined permanent shape upon the application of a stimulus such as heat(1-5). In a typical shape memory cycle, the SMP is first deformed at an elevated temperature that is higher than its transition temperature, T(trans;) [either the melting temperature (T(m;))...

Driving Force for Nucleation of Multi-Component Gas Hydrate

Based on driving force for crystallization of one-component gas hydrate, in this report an expression for the supersaturation for crystallization of multicomponent gas hydrate is derived. Expressions for the supersaturation are obtained in isothermal and isobaric regimes. The results obtained are applied to the crystallization of hydrates of mixtures of methane plus ethane and can apply to ...
